Boozhoo, Tansi, my name is Crystal Greene. I am a Winnipeg based reporter with IndigiNews in a fellowship with the Canadian Race Relations Foundation.
I am Anishinaabe and Cree. I am happy to join the ReFocus Photojournalism Fellowship cohort to refresh and learn new visual storytelling skills at University of King's College, where I graduated with a post-baccalaureate Bachelor of Journalism degree in 2023.
Q: What and/or who has inspired your photography practice?
A: Being a spatially aware and creative person, I've always had a knack for composure, which has led to me taking film and video training.
Being an online reporter who is more focused on note-taking and interviewing, I often do more simple point-and-shoot photography. I would like to become more comfortable working with all the settings in a still camera, so that it becomes second nature.
I would like to take award-winning still photos when I am out-in-the-field reporting at a critical moment.
